A specially selected escorted holiday of discovery, walking, riding and wine tasting through Argentina guided by Alfie Laurence. Alfie is a fluent Spanish speaker whose knowledge of the history and politics of this country combined with his engaging personality add greatly to the enjoyment of this holiday.
The holiday starts in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires where cultures and influences have fused to create a capital of French architecture, Italian style and British roots.
We fly to the north west province of Salta, the Spanish colonial heartland of Argentina to stay in a small Estancia. There is the option of a day of R&R or head off on an extraordinary day of discovery to almost the Chilean/Bolivian border for a picnic lunch in the Salinas Grandes salt flats.
Having been north we drive south through the varied and interesting province of Salta, staying a night in Cachi where the winds and the sun have sculpted the rock and fashioned incredible multi-coloured mountains.
From Cachi we drive to Cafayate and wine country where high altitude vines produce some of Argentina’s iconic Torrentes white wine. We have one last night in the heart of Salta with a folk music evening before we fly east to explore the many walkways and tributaries of the Iguazu falls and lunch in Brazil.
The holiday ends back in Buenos Aires in the attractive, vibrant area of Palermo.
