Chile Escorted

This 12 night holiday explores places off the beaten track of great beauty and away from the tourist hot-spots. We visit Chilean family friends of ours who show us around their estates and stay at charming hotels and secluded lodges noted for comfort, delicious food and good local wines. This is not a walking or riding holiday but has both on offer and a flavour of all that we love in this diverse and dramatic country.

The holiday starts by exploring the cosmopolitan capital Santiago from where we drive south to the vineyards of the Colchagua valley and some of Chile’s finest wines. From here we go to a culinary lodge nestled in the foot of the Andes.

Now we return to Santiago, spend the night in an airport hotel to break up the journey then fly south to Balmaceda and pick up the Austral Highway to a remote area of Northern Patagonia. Here we stay for 4 nights amongst lakes and snowy capped mountains. There is riding on sturdy horses or walking in magical country, trout fishing in the lakes and white water rafting in the Baker River.
